School Business Manager

Permanent Contract – start date 17th May 2021

37 hours per week (times worked negotiable)

41 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days plus 2 weeks)

Grade 8 £30,451 to £33,782 FTE

Beech Green Primary School is a happy and inclusive school that celebrates the talents of all our children, giving them the best start to their education.  We are looking to appoint an experienced (or interested and willing to learn) and effective School Business Manager to head up our administrative and premises team.  A two week full induction/handover is planned with the current post holder retiring at the end of May.

You will have a positive, confident and flexible approach while managing a diverse and demanding workload.


  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Willingness to train, adapt and ability to listen
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written to a range of audiences
  • The ability to empathise with the needs of our pupils, staff and families
  • Problem solving skills along with a “Can-do” attitude
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure in a busy office environment.


  • Experience of budget management, monitoring and financial reporting, including use of computerised finance systems (currently FMS but training can be provided if necessary)
  • Good influencing skills
  • Experience of Health & Safety including premises and facilities management
  • A working knowledge of education HR
  • Ability to manage change, be creative, ask difficult questions, challenge and support
  • The ability to support and manage a diverse team.
